One of the things that instantly connects people to your cause, is telling them your "why". My "why" is my daughter. Maya has a visual processing disorder and reading is very difficult for her. She often uses e-reader technology to access her school materials and books.

However, I was noticing that if I paused and asked her what happened in the book so far, she was unable to tell me what was going on, particularly when the e-reader voice was very robotic. At first, I worried that she just wasn't paying attention, but I noticed she didn't have the same problem when listening to an audiobook.

Maya finally told me that the robotic voices were hard for her to understand, even if she changed the speed of the voice. Then she said the ones that were more natural, in pacing and tone, were the easiest to understand.

I realized I needed to create a new product to fit the need.

There are some e-reader voices that sound slightly more realistic, but AI will never be able to get it to be perfect.

That's why I created a platform that would pay real people to read and record articles, webistes, and books, to create a database that would best serve the visually impaired community.

Very aspiring. How big of a demographic is the visual imparied community? Is it too niche of a project to make a profit?

I can see the value of this service. Not only will it help the visually impaired but it will also help people who are on the go and people who have a hard time focusing.

Exactly Bumper! That's the whole benefit of making things accessible. It very rarely benefits just one group. The benefits spans across multiple demographics and maximizes client outreach!
